The Eagle Strikes Again!

As I’m driving to work earlier this week, my “arch nemesis” the Bald Eagle is sitting on the tree in the river. A common place for them to hang out this time of year. Not only that, there were TWO of them sitting side by side on a branch! Of course I didn’t have my camera with me at that moment, it was at home, twenty minutes away… Hoping it wouldn’t fly away, I managed to quickly pull over and shoot some photos on the river bed. It’s as close as I could get on the side of the river I was on. And they always face away from me so I only managed to get it’s back.

Although I’ve shot similar photos of eagles like this before, this might be my best and cleanest shot of this framing.

I like this photo and all but I’ve taken photos similar to this one and it isn’t as fulfilling. Which is when I noticed how low the water was on the other side of the river. I raced over as quickly as possible across the bridge, hoping that the eagle would still be there. The good thing was, it hadn’t moved from that branch.

BUT. The moment I got too close, it started to fly down river. I hoped I could get at least one photo in focus of it in flight… I did not.

He’s bested me again… One day I will get the photo of an Eagle I’ve been hoping for!
